PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
ADMISSION OF NEW PARTNERS
Lex Uganda Advocates & Solicitors are pleased to announce the admission of four new Partners with effect from 1 October 2017. They are: Pious Olaki, Joseph Mwenyi, Richard K. Latigo and Emmanuel Meta Aloro.
All the four Partners are products of the Lex Uganda Advocates, which is one of the premier law firms in Uganda. Pious is returning to the Law Firm after seven years, having left as a Legal Associate in 2009 to join Dfcu Bank where he has been a Legal Manager. Joseph, Richard and Meta have rapidly risen through the ranks of the Law Firm and have acquired considerable expertise in their respective practice areas.
At Lex Uganda, we believe in career progression for our staff and do everything possible to assist staff achieve their dreams. The admission of the new Partners is a demonstration of our commitment to mentoring and nurturing our lawyers to bring out the best of their abilities. Below are the brief profiles of the new Partners.
Pious Olaki
He is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all Courts of Judicature. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree of Makerere University, a Master of Arts Degree in International Trade Policy and Law of Uganda Martyrs University and a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Uganda Law Development Centre.
Pious previously worked with dfcu Bank Ltd. He specializes in the areas of banking, corporate finance, debt finance and management; and Alternative Dispute Resolution in commercial and corporate litigation.
Joseph Mwenyi
He is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all Courts of Judicature. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree of Makerere University and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Uganda Law Development Centre.
Joseph's areas of practice include Employment and Pensions Law as well as commercial law with a specific focus on Intellectual Property Law, as well as litigation.
Richard K. Latigo
He is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all Courts of Judicature. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree of Makerere University and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Uganda Law Development Centre.
Richard specialises in dispute resolution with an emphasis on civil, commercial law litigation, insurance, securities litigation and professional liability. He is a leading litigation practitioner in Uganda with years of successful court experience. He also handles advisory work on projects (development and financing) and commercial contracts.
Richard also has experience in land transactions and regularly advises public and private clients on land rights. He has handled way leaves acquisitions and resettlement plans in the Albertine region for oil companies.
Prior to joining Lex Uganda, Richard qualified in and practiced journalism with The New Vision Group, a leading media entity in Uganda, and authored articles for several international publications.
Emmanuel Meta Aloro
He is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all Courts of Judicature. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Master of Arts degree in revenue law and tax administration from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Uganda Law Development Centre.
Emmanuel has specialized in revenue law and taxation, risk management and compliance, corporate governance, project and infrastructure financing and mining. He has advised on labour and pensions claims both for corporate and individual clients.
