About Matthias Nalyanya

Matt, one of the founding partners of M/S Lex Uganda Advocates & Solicitors, has long experience within both the corporate and commercial practice. He is especially active within the field of transactions, mergers and acquisitions, insolvency and also with general tax issues.

Mat is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and all Courts of Judicature. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree of Makerere University, a postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Uganda Law Development Centre, a postgraduate Diploma in Tax Law from the East African School of Taxation and a Master of Laws Degree in Commercial Law and Corporate Law from the London School of Economics (LSE), University of London.

He handles due diligence processes and in connection with tax audits and appeals to the revenue authority. In addition to his law practice, Mat has long experience with corporate finance, and has provided assistance across a range of business areas, for example within commercial arbitration, energy and power, procurement, telecommunication, capital markets and securities and international commercial service provision.

He heads the coroporate and commercial department of the firm.

Matt is a court appointed mediator in Uganda and has taught at the Uganda Management Institute and Uganda Martyrs University where he also served as Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Management. He is currently a Director of a number of entities including Standard Chartered Bank Uganda Ltd, Kampala Club Ltd, Radio Sapientia Ltd and Namilyango College.
